Facts about FOVEC
- The Fair Oaks Village Enhancement Committee(FOVEC) was formed to explore a possible unified vision for the future of the village to make it a viable and attractive location for the community and Sacramento region
- The FOVEC vision include recommendations and a plan that addresses buildings, parking, street use, street beautification and lighting, public signage, public and open spaces within the immediate village area.
- The FOVEC is a volunteer group sponsored by the Fair Oak Chamber and the County of Sacramento to provide input to possible future strategies and designs for the downtown village area.
- The FOVEC is working with an acclaimed local urban design firm to provide concept plans to share with the community in a collaborative visioning process.
- The FOVEC has a steering committee made up of a broad cross section of the local community including; property owners, businesses, Public Districts, the County, and residents.
- The FOVEC will strive to establish and implement a strong public participation element during its visioning process.
- The FOVEC intends to eventually pass on its recommended plan to the County planning department and the Board of Supervisors for their consideration as a guideline for the future redevelopment of the village.
- The FOVEC will work with local, regional, State and Federal sources to seek planning and implementation grants as necessary to compliment its current budget.
- Current funding for the design consultant is provided by the County of Sacramento.
- A final draft plan is expected to be completed in spring, 2008.
